Course Overview: This four hour program involves multiple learning activities; an instructor led discussion, instructor led skill practice and an evaluation. The manual used during this course is the BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association. At Master Train the instructors who teach CPR do CPR as part of their job. The majority of our instructors do patient care daily. Our equipment is state of the art. All of our mannequins are anatomically correct. Our adult, child and infant mannequins are connected to skill meters which have a computer chip that monitors student performance regarding ventilation and chest compression quality. The Mannequins even generate carotid pulses! The AED trainer we use is the Phillips Heart Start AED Trainer 2. We train with both adult and pediatric pads. The students must deliver oxygen to the mannequins with a pocket-mask and bag-valve mask. Students learn the effective use of barrier devices in a health care setting, and how to use suction and oxygen. Students gain proficiency in using a pocket-mask and bag-valve mask for adults, children, and infants. In addition, students also practice with AEDs and relief of foreign body airway obstructions for victims of all ages. CPR Course Hours: 4 CPR Certification: A BLS for Healthcare Provider card will be awarded to those students who are able to demonstrate proficiency in the skills of CPR, mouth-to-mask and bag-mask ventilation use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and relief of foreign body airway obstruction for the responsive and unresponsive victim.
