PALS CoursePrerequisite: Current Healthcare Provider CPR Card.Course Overview: Our Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course involves multiple learning activities; including instructor led discussions, instructor led skills practice and evaluations. We use the same technique as our basic life support course and our ACLS course of lecture followed by immediate skills practice to reinforce student learning. Students spend a large portion of their time in the learning lab where learning objectives are reinforced with hands-on practice. They also must learn to function as a team and provide all aspects of patient care in this highly dynamic environment.Students practice patient care, communication skills and teamwork in an emergency setting. Our learning lab is a replica of an emergency room, with fully functional equipment and well-stocked supplies. When coupled with our non-threatening Master Train learning environment, students overcome performance fears and venture to learn! PALS Course Hours: 20 PALS Accreditations: Master Train designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity meets Type 1 criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward relicensure as established by the Texas Board of Nursing. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (13.5 contact hours). PALS Recertification Course Prerequisites: In order to qualify for a Pals Recertification, students must have both a current Healthcare Provider CPR card and a current Pals Provider card. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation. PALS Re-Certification: There are no Nursing Continuing Education (CEUs) offered for this course.
